SANTA ANA, Calif., Aug. 19 (UPI) --
A lawsuit in Southern California targets Facebook with what one lawyer called a "kitchen sink" of allegations.
The five plaintiffs say Facebook allows children to open accounts without their parents' knowledge or permission, violates California privacy laws and has grown to be a resource for the general public after starting off as a networking site limited to college students, The Orange County Register reported. The lawsuit also says Facebook makes money off information and images supplied by users.
The lawsuit was filed Monday in Orange County.
Eric Goldman, director of the High Tech Law Institute at Santa Clara University law school, said the lawsuit takes "totally a kitchen sink approach."
The plaintiffs include two children who opened Facebook accounts; Elvina Beck, an actress and model who says her photograph has appeared on Facebook without her permission; Elisha Melkonian, a photographer who says her work has showed up on Facebook; and Catherine Aiko, who says terms and conditions have changed since she joined in 2005, the newspaper reported.
All except Beck live in Orange County.
