TORONTO, Aug. 20 (UPI) --
Most Canadian executives aren't comfortable being asked to be a "friend" on the Internet Facebook social networking site, a survey published Thursday said.
The OfficeTeam placement company polled 100 executives at random last month and found 72 percent of them were uncomfortable with requests from employees to be a listed friend on the site.
The unease was similar to an executive's boss request to be "friended" -- 69 percent said they didn't like the idea, the release said.
"The line between personal and professional has grown increasingly blurred as more people use social networking Web sites for business purposes," said the company's executive director, Robert Hosking.
He said there are inherent dangers in letting business-related people view one's personal life, including photographs, fan site lists and online group memberships.
"Individuals should classify their professional contacts into a 'work' list and limit what personal details this group can view," he said.
