Morgan Freeman and his wife of 24 years are calling it quits, just days after the actor was involved in a serious car accident. Morgan Freeman and Myrna Colley-Lee have been separated "for legal and practical purpose separated since December of 2007, " said Freeman's lawyer.

Myrna Colley-Lee is a "costumer" that Freeman met in 1976 while the two of them were working on an off-Broadway production.

Freeman is recovering from injuries received in his recent car accident. He had nerves reconnected but is said to be recovering very well.

Morgan is expected to leave the hospital within the next few days. Freeman had been traveling in the car with a woman who wasn't his wife when the accident happened.
