Winehouse performs at V Festival

LONDON, Aug. 24 (UPI) --

Troubled British soul singer Amy Winehouse performed for the first time in England in a year at this past weekend's V Festival.

The Grammy Award winner, whose relationship woes, battle with drug addiction and unreliability have recently eclipsed her talent, spent several months this year relaxing in the Caribbean.

She gave a rare public performance Saturday, joining in when The Specials sang "You're Wondering Now" and "Ghost Town," the BBC said.

"While living in St. Lucia, Amy missed the band's reunion tour and decided to head to V to catch her favorite artists. Meeting them backstage, they invited her to guest for them and made her dream come true," Winehouse's spokesman told the British broadcaster.

Winehouse earned jeers when she offered a lackluster performance during the Saturday program of last year's V Festival, although she reportedly got her act together and sang well the following day.
