LOS ANGELES, Aug. 25 (UPI) --
Recording artist Chris Brown was sentenced in a Los Angeles court Tuesday to 1,400 hours of labor-oriented service for beating up his singer-girlfriend Rihanna.
Brown, 20, pleaded guilty to felony assault in June for attacking Rihanna, 21, in Los Angeles last February.
CNN said that in addition to the labor-oriented service he has been ordered to complete, Brown will also be on probation for the next five years, which will be overseen by the state of California.
Under the terms of the sentencing, he also must undergo domestic violence counseling, CNN said.
