Megan Fox named 'SNL' premiere host

NEW YORK, Sept. 10 (UPI) --

Megan Fox and U2 are set to appear on the 35th season premiere of "Saturday Night Live" in New York, NBC announced Thursday.

Fox will serve as host and U2 as musical guest on the Sept. 26 edition of the iconic sketch comedy series.

Two new players -- Nasim Pedrad and Jenny Slate -- also have been added to the "SNL" cast this season.

Pedrad trained with The Groundlings, a Los Angeles-based improv comedy troupe, as well as at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater.

Slate, also an alumnus of the UCB, was previously seen in "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon's" parody sketch, "7th Floor West."
