Julia Child's Secret Life As A Spy Confirmed
If you thought that the only thing Julia Child was good at was whipping up delectable dishes, you're wrong. Julia worked as a clerk for the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) in 1944. She later worked for OSS director, William Donovan, according to records released from the National Archives on Thursday. The Office of Strategic Services was a World War II era spy agency.

Over 750,000 documents were released that offer details about OSS employees, including Julia Child. Other celebrities named in the files include Sterling Hayden; an author and actor, Theodore Roosevelt's son Kermit and historian Arthur Schlesinger Jr.
The Office of Strategic Services was disbanded on September 20, 1945 by then President, Harry Truman. The agency is the predecessor of today's Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and was used to help arm, train and supply a number of resistance movements. The OSS's greatest accomplishment was it's ability to infiltrate German forces with it's operatives during WWII.
Former operatives of the OSS were told not to speak of their involvement with the secretive agency, even with close family or friends.
There's believed to be as many as 24,000 people that were employed by the intelligence agency, a lot more than previously thought, according to the now public records.
