Donnette Sanz Killed By Driver - Her Baby Delivered Alive
Donnette Sanz, 33, was killed by a Manhatten driver in the Fordham section of the Bronx when a 72 year old driver struck her, pushing her into the front of a bus that ran her over. Sanz was a New York traffic agent that was 7 months pregnant.
Onlookers and witnesses lifted the bus and pulled Sanz out from underneath it. Doctors at a nearby hospital performed an emergency Caesarean section and delivered her son alive. The boy weighed three pounds and is in critical condition.
Walter Walker was charged with criminally negligent homicide and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after the accident that killed Sanz on Thursday.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg offered his condolences to Sanz's family and said that he hoped that the boy will understand that his mother gave her life serving the city.
