SpiritAir Introduces Faster Laptop Procedures At Checkpoints
There is nothing more annoying than having to remove your laptop computer from it's case when you're flying for business or pleasure. SpiritAir.com and the TSA just announced that laptop computers carried in qualified bags, referred to as checkpoint friendly bags will no longer have to be removed from their cases when going through security X-Rays.
Laptop bags that have been approved to go through X-Rays without removing them include butterfly style, trifold and sleeve style. Bags that aren't approved include Accordian and Backpack styles. Checkpoint friendly bags must also meet these requirements:
- Your laptop bag has a designated laptop-only section that can lay flat on the X-ray belt.
- There are no metal snaps, zippers or buckles inside, underneath or on-top of the laptop-only section.
- There are no pockets on the inside or outside of the laptop-only section.
- There is nothing in the laptop compartment other than the laptop.
- You have completely unfolded your bag so that there is nothing above or below the laptop-only section, allowing the bag to lay flat on the X-ray belt.
TSA Administrator Kip Hawley stated, "This is a solid example of government collaborating with the private sector to conceptualize and produce a product that really works to improve and advance the security process."
Bag manufacturers are producing these Checkpoint Friendly bags right now and they're expected on the market this month. These bags will not only be safe for Spiritair.com, but all other airlines as well.
