Mass grave found in Karbala

BAGHDAD, Oct. 16 (UPI) --

The intelligence officer for three Iraqi provinces, Ali Al Hamadani, and two of his children were wounded in a roadside bomb explosion in Karbala, police said.

Police also reported uncovering an unknown number of bodies in a mass grave in Karbala, southwest of Baghdad, al-Sumaria reported Thursday.

In Mosul, meanwhile, police said a least two people were killed in separate incident, al-Sumaria reported Thursday.

In one incident, a gunman died in a clash with police while two children were wounded. In a separate incident officials reported a police patrol opened fire by mistake, killing an Iraqi civilian.

The news agency also reported two deaths and six injuries when mortars exploded near the Abu Hanifa Mosque in Baghdad.

In Al Dora District, al-Sumaria reported two Awakening Council members and four Iraqi solders were wounded in two roadside bomb explosions occurring in succession inside an Awakenings Council base.
