Dana Torres Wins The Silver
Dana Torres, the oldest Olympic swimmer, finishes second
Dana Torres was this close to winning a gold medal, but came up just short in her bid in the 50 meter freestyle. How close was the race? How about 0.01 seconds difference. Dana Torres finished in 24.07 seconds, barely behind Britta Steffen of Germany, who won the event with a time of 24.06.

Torres then won her second silver medal of the day in the 400 medley relay. She served as the anchor in that event, and again came up just short of walking away the gold.
Dana Torres still has to consider these Olympic Games a success. She is 41 years old and a mom, after all, and she initially retired after the 2000 Olympics. The mere fact that she was able to perform so well in such a competitive event at a relatively advanced age will undoubtedly impress anyone.
