Lindsay Lohan is "Gay for Play" and a disgrace to lesbians everywhere, says a group that really should know

One group of lesbians is none too happy about the attention that Lindsay Lohan seems to be getting with her "unconfirmed relationship" with Samantha Ronson. The Center for Sapphic Studies in Los Angeles, California is an organization with passionate members whose job it is to "further the cause of our lesbian sisterhood" and they don't think Lindsay Lohan is doing any such thing. In fact, they say her relationship with Ronson only serves to further damage their movement.

"We're most concerned with equal pay for equal rights, health care benefits for workers in same sex relationships, and equality for all people, especially Lesbians," said Karen Whittaker, Director of the CFSS. "Celebrities like Lindsay Lohan are merely 'Gay for Play' and are attempting to cash in on the faddish appeal of lesbianism without any commitment to our cause."

Gay activists rankle at the apparently continously adolescent love affair between Lohan and Ronson.

"They never seem to move past the hand holding and eye gazing phase of the relationship. There's no sense these two are actually in a commited relationship," said Alice Hensley. "If Lindsay would come out and say she's gay and in a commited relationship with Ronson, then maybe she could use her media clout for good for the first time in her life."

According to Hensley and Whittaker, being a "fake lesbian" is nothing new. Since lesbian contact has been promoted in music videos and movies for years, the idea of two girls "making out" has become "cool." But that has nothing to do with the problems faced by a committed lesbian couple. Whittaker and Hensley both say that Lohan could and should make a difference if she really is a lesbian and is in a long term loving relationship with Samantha Ronson.

"It's the year of 'I Kissed a Girl' for Lohan and lots of other chicks out there," said Whittaker. "But when the rubber meets the road most of them will end up marrying a man. Only a few girls will go on to be lifelong lesbians and they will face legal obstacles and societal pressures because of their decision. If Lindsay cared, she could help change that for the better."

Hensley is more forgiving of Lohan.

"If I had to guess I'd say Lindsay would love to come out but Dina just won't let her," she said. "Look at how bad her career has been going in the last few years. Dina probably feels this news would kill any chance of a comeback."

Whittaker is nowhere near as forgiving.

"Lindsay Lohan is not only a fake lesbian, but she's a fake bitch," she said. "She could easily come out. Rosie O'Donnell, and Ellen DeGeneres certainly came out and they had a lot more to lose than Lindsay does. Lindsay won't come out because she only cares about herself and this is just a phase she's going through. When Ronson dumps her she'll just pick up the pieces and date a man."
