Crude oil climbs above $73 per barrel

NEW YORK, Oct. 12 (UPI) --

Crude oil prices climbed above $73 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange Monday following a strong week on Wall Street.

The Dow Jones industrial average of blue-chip stock added 377 points in the past five trading sessions. The Standard & Poor's 500 added 46 points.

Monday morning, crude oil added $1.28 to $73.05 per barrel. Heating oil prices gained 0.0282 cents to $1.881 per gallon. Reformulated gasoline gained 0.0243 cents to $1.7923 per gallon. Natural gas prices rose 0.105 cents to $4.875 per million British thermal units.

At the pump, the national average price of unleaded gasoline was $2.482 per gallon Monday, up from Sunday's $2.479, AAA said.
