Soak it Up on the French Riviera

The French Riviera brings to mind a place where the sun always shines and the famous always visit, but there is a lot for the average person to enjoy as well. And it pays to choose your location with care too, because although the weather is wonderful in some areas it can be changeable in others, due to the geography of the area.

Depending on what time of year you visit there are a lot of special events which are known and respected around the world, such as the Monaco Grand Prix, where Formula One cars take over the small location and amaze the spectators with their speed and precision.

The Cannes Film Festival is perhaps the other most well known of all the events the area holds, mainly because of the number of movie stars that always flock to the area during this time. You can guarantee it will attract an enthusiastic crowd; offering the best chance of seeing all the stars come out in force.

And of course if you fancy your luck in the casinos, there is no better place to go than the heart of gambling, Monte Carlo. Ironically enough, although tourists often flock to the famous Monte Carlo Casino, the residents of the area are not actually allowed to go in.

But if you prefer a holiday in the area which is more laid back and relaxing, then Nice has been known to have it all. Nice is one of the hotspots to visit on the French Riviera, and it is in fact its capital. But this isn't the only reason that so many people are attracted to it; there is no doubt that the presence of a wonderful long beach is what brings people to the area, looking for a relaxing holiday; with the intention of doing as little as possible.

But of course, if the thought of lying on a beach all day does get too much to bear, you can always take a stroll around the old town, with its wonderful mix of shops and gorgeous places to eat. In fact, the only danger here is that you may be stopping so often to sample the edible wares of the various traders and cafes that you won't have any energy left to spend any money on souvenirs!

Don't misplace Rossetti in the old town, as well as the several other squares that are part of the beauty and charm that is unmistakably Nice. But, wherever you go you will notice that Nice has one life in the daytime and another at night, so if you enjoy nightlife and the thought of seeing Nice in a completely new light, be sure you stay awake long enough to witness it!
