AUSCHWITZ, Poland, Oct. 16 (UPI) --
The museum that operates the former Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz has started a Facebook site to try to reach tech-savvy younger people, a spokesman said.
It comes just months after the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum opened a YouTube channel, Poland Radio reported.
"Our aim is to teach the younger generation responsibility in the modern world, and what better way than to employ a tool they already use themselves?" spokesman Pawel Sawicki told TVN-24 , Poland.
The Facebook Web site, in Polish and English, features news and information about the Auschwitz museum and links to YouTube videos and the museum's official Web site.
Sawicki said the aim is to create a platform for debate without tarnishing the memory of the 1.1 million victims who died at the concentration camp, 90 percent of whom were Jewish.
