JERUSALEM, Oct. 22 (UPI) --
A group of youngsters from Sderot, Israel, delivered to the U.N.'s Jerusalem headquarters a petition with 90,000 signatures against the Goldstone Report.
The letter, signed by people from 50 countries worldwide with the assistance of the Take-a-Pen organization, also demanded that Hamas leaders be tried for war crimes, The Jerusalem Post reported Thursday.
The group rallied outside the U.N. headquarters with signs and sang the Israeli national anthem.
"We wanted to present the letter today because of the urgency in which the Goldstone report is being adopted. We know the hearings in Geneva are about to end, and in just a little bit it will move to a U.N. committee in New York. We will also go to New York and do everything that is necessary there," said Batya Katar, one of the letter's and demonstration's organizers.
After delivering their letter to a U.N. office secretary, demonstration organizers said they were told a U.N. representative would meet with them in the near future.
"We, the people of Sderot, want to say that for nine years we have suffered. Enough is enough; we were the ones who suffered because of (Palestinian) violations of human rights," said Lilach Nissim, one of the Sderot residents presenting the letter."
