John McCain is not keeping a low profile this week during the Democratic National Convention. Instead, the Republican candidate is releasing a series of ads aimed at "Hillary Clinton Democrats."
It's no secret that supporters of Hillary Clinton have been none too happy about Barack Obama being the Democratic Presidential Candidate. McCain is aiming squarely at such discontent.

Clinton, for her part, doesn't appear ready to play along. A key theme of this year's DNC is party unity, meaning any squabbles between Obama and Clinton should be left behind.
One of the ads shows a former Clinton supporter now gushing over McCain.
"I respect his maverick and independent streak, and now he's the one with the experience and judgment," she says. "A lot of Democrats will vote McCain. It's okay, really!"
Whether this tactic will be effective in actually converting Clintonites remains to be seen.
