Crude oil holds at new plateau

NEW YORK, Oct. 26 (UPI) --

Crude oil prices held steady at more than $80 per barrel during the weekend as a September holding pattern has given way to October's new highs.

Crude oil prices took off in the second week of October to establish a high for the year above $81 per barrel. The new plateau, in the $80 range, showed no serious signs of abating.

The price of light, sweet crude, eased 22 cents to $80.28 Monday morning. Heating oil prices added 0.0048 cents to $2.0804 per gallon. Reformulated gasoline prices added 0.0185 to $2.0623 per gallon. Natural gas prices shed 0.163 cents to $4.624 per million British thermal units.

At the pump, the national average price for unleaded gasoline was $2.671 per gallon Monday, up from Sunday's $2.665, AAA said.
