Kevin Durant scored 25 points Wednesday in leading Oklahoma City to a strong opening-night performance that resulted in a 102-89 win over Sacramento.

The outcome spoiled the Sacramento coaching debut of Paul Westphal.

After moving from Seattle to Oklahoma City last year, the Thunder won just 26 games and spent the early portion struggling for respectability. They had a far better start this season, getting 24 points from Jeff Green and 20 from Nenad Krstic.

Oklahoma City jumped to a 17-point lead after one period and was never threatened.

Kevin Martin scored 27 for the Kings. Sacramento's Omri Casspi became the first Israeli-born player to compete in a regular-season NBA game. He scored 15 points while making 7-of-9 shots.

Westphal took over for the Kings after they posted the worst record (17-65) in franchise history.
