Airliner with sick pilot lands safely

PERTH, Australia, Oct. 30 (UPI) --

A Qantas airliner with an ill pilot and 110 passengers landed safely in Perth, Australia, Friday, airline officials said.

The plane, flight QF593 from Adelaide, was landed without incident by the first officer, who took over after the pilot became ill about an hour before landing, Qantas said.

The pilot was met at the airport by paramedics and taken to a hospital, the Australian reported. Cause of his illness was not revealed but officials said it was not life-threatening.
