NBA: New Orleans 97, Sacramento 92

NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 30 (UPI) --

Emeka Okafor put New Orleans in front with a dunk and also had a key block in the final seconds Friday, boosting the Hornets to a 97-92 win over Sacramento.

The Hornets rallied down the stretch to win their home opener, thanks in part to a 14-of-15 effort by Chris Paul from the foul line. He made four free throws in the final 5.9 seconds to finish with 31 points.

Okafor scored 11 points and had 13 rebounds.

Sacramento was led by 22 points from Tyreke Evans and 20 from Kevin Martin.

Paul converted a 3-point play with 1:16 left to tie it and, after Sacramento failed to score, Paul attempted a jumper that would have put the Hornets in front.

Paul's shot missed, but Okafor was there to grab the rebound and jam it home with 43.9 seconds to play.

New Orleans had a three-point lead with less than 5 seconds left when Okafor blocked a 3-point try by Martin. Paul sealed the win with two foul shots.

Sacramento led by as many as eight in the third period.
