Police seek man after six bodies found

CLEVELAND, Oct. 31 (UPI) --

Ohio authorities are vowing to find a convicted rapist after discovering as many as six bodies at his Cleveland house.

Police are on the lookout for Anthony Sowell, whose home on the city's East Side has turned up as many as six bodies in various stages of decomposition inside the house and in the yard, The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported Saturday.

Sowell, 50, is on the run after two bodies were found Thursday and up to four more Friday afternoon as crowds gathered outside the home, some carrying pictures of missing loved ones, the newspaper said.

"(Sowell) is the most wanted man in Cleveland right now," Police Lt. Thomas Stacho told reporters, as cadaver-sniffing dogs went through the house's yard and vans from the coroner's office lined the street.

Stacho said three bodies had definitely been found and what are believed to be the remains of three others were also located. He said at least two of the bodies were women.

The Plain Dealer said Sowell moved into the home in 2005 after serving 15 years in prison for rape.
