HOUSTON, Oct. 31 (UPI) --
Trevor Ariza's team-high 33 points Saturday lifted Houston to a 111-107 win over Portland in its NBA home-opener.
Ariza sank one of two free throws, giving Houston a 110-105 lead with 16 seconds left in the game.
Houston's led by nine points in the fourth, but the lead dwindled to 98-95 with 5:18 left.
Aaron Brooks scored 28 with eight assists, while Carl Landry added 16 points for the Rockets, who have won two of their first three games.
Brandon Roy led Portland with a game-high 42 points, six rebounds and four assists.
LaMarcus Aldridge scored 27 with four rebounds, and Andre Miller added 15 points and five assists for the Trailblazers, who have lost two of three.
