TOKYO, Nov. 2 (UPI) --
A Tokyo judge Monday sentenced Japanese actor and singer Manabu Oshio to a suspended prison term for using the drug Ecstasy.
Oshio, 31, pleaded guilty to the charge last August.
The Kyodo News said he was sentenced to 18 months in prison, suspended for five years.
Oshio could face other charges, however, as police are still investigating the death of a 30-year-old woman with whom he took the drug at a Tokyo apartment, the Kyodo news agency reported.
Kaori Tanaka reportedly fell unconscious after taking the drug, then died. Oshio allegedly did not call an ambulance to help her and she didn't receive medical attention until Oshio's manager arrived at the apartment several hours later.
