Police: Suspect gave name to witnesses

CRESTVIEW, Fla., Nov. 2 (UPI) --

Police in Florida said a burglary suspect identified himself to witnesses before breaking into a neighbor's apartment.

Investigators said Steven Joseph Richburg Jr., 21, went to a neighbor's Crestview apartment seeking a confrontation, but the resident had left home earlier to avoid encountering Richburg, the Crestview Bulletin reported Monday.

Richburg identified himself to neighbors of the victim before kicking open the apartment door, breaking windows, damaging a motion sensor light and taking several CDs, DVDs and articles of clothing, police said.

Richburg was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal mischief, burglary, theft, violation of parole, possession of a controlled substance and other charges. He has multiple previous arrests dating back to December of last year.
