WASHINGTON, Nov. 3 (UPI) --
Three alleged former terrorist supporters were removed Tuesday from the U.S. Treasury Department's Specially Designated Nationals List, officials said.
The department's Office of Foreign Assets Control said it removed Patricia Rosa Vinck, Barakaat International and the Barakaat International Foundation from its list, finding they no longer pose a significant threat of supporting terrorism, the department said in a release.
The three also were removed from the United Nations' list of individuals and entities subject to the organization's sanctions.
Vinck is the wife of Nabil Abdul Salam Sayadi, leader of the Belgium office of the Global Relief Foundation, an organization designated in October 2002 by the United States and the United Nations for its support to al-Qaida.
The Barakaat organizations were part of a 40-country financial conglomerate that facilitated the financing and operations of al-Qaida and other terrorist organizations, Treasury officials said. The U.S. and U.N. sanctions against them prevented the entities from routing funds to al-Qaida and other terrorist groups, the Treasury Department said.
The two organizations no longer operate, OFAC officials said.
