Halloween attack in Calif. prompts arrests

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 5 (UPI) --

Police said they arrested a man and three teenagers for a Halloween attack on two boys in San Jose, Calif.

The SFGate.com said Thursday Eduardo Cristobal, 18, was arrested along with a 15-year-old boy and two 16-year-old boys for the holiday attack that left a 12-year-old boy in critical condition.

The identities of the teenage suspects were not reported.

Authorities suspect the attack on the 12-year-old boy and his 13-year-old friend was because the suspects mistakenly thought the trick-or-treaters were members of a rival gang.

Last Saturday's conflict resulted in the unidentified 12-year-old being shot and his friend stabbed.

The 13-year-old suffered unspecified injuries in the attack and has since been released from the hospital.

The Web site said Cristobal was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Charges against the teen suspects were pending.
