Daniel J. Collins Had Daughter Stab The Family Cat
Daniel J. Collins won't be named Indiana's Father of the Year this year. At least not after what he did to the family cat in an apparently drunken attempt to teach his kids a "lesson."
Collins pleaded guilty to two felony counts of neglect of a dependent. In exchange for his plea, three other felony charges were dropped.
"I am extremely sorry for what I did," said Collins during his sentencing. "Everything is my responsibility."
Collins told his children to kill the family cat. Instead, his 11 year old son attempted to hide the animal. Next, Collins found the ill-fated feline and strangled it. He then had his 7 year old daughter stab the cat.
Collin said he was "teaching the kids how to kill."
The children now live with their grandparents and Daniel Collins is heading off to jail.
Collins would only say that he was drunk at the time of the incident and didn't remember his actions on that day.
