Phillies dump Brett Myers, Pedro Feliz

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 6 (UPI) --

The Philadelphia Phillies have released pitcher Brett Myers and third baseman Pedro Feliz at the start of what could be an off-season roster overhaul.

Various media reports this week said the status of closer Brad Lidge, first baseman Matt Stairs, utility infielder Eric Bruntlett, catcher Paul Bako and reliever Scott Eyre likely are shaky among team officials. The club did, however, decide to keep starter Cliff Lee for the 2010 season.

"If I don't fit their plans, that's fine with me," Myers said on the Phillies' Web site late Friday. "There's nothing I can do about it."

Myers, a first-round pick by the Phillies in the 1999 player draft, went 4-3 with a 4.84 ERA in 2009, and in 240 games, all with Philadelphia, his record is 73-63 with a 4.40 ERA, including three Opening Day starts and a 2008 World Series championship ring.
