NHL: New Jersey 2, New York Islanders 1

UNIONDALE, N.Y., Nov. 6 (UPI) --

Yann Danis made 23 saves in his second start of the season Friday, backstopping the New Jersey Devils' 2-1 win over the New York Islanders.

The only goal Danis allowed was a backhander by Frans Nielsen that gave the Islanders a 1-0 lead at 6:23 of the first period.

Cory Murphy and Brian Rolston scored for the Devils, who won their fourth consecutive game.

Murphy tied the score at 2:38 of the second period and Rolston put the Devils on top with a slap-shot goal on a power play with 6:20 to play in the second.

Patrik Elias, New Jersey's all-time leading scorer, returned to the Devils' lineup for the first time since having off-season surgery on his groin.
