Counts of wanton endangerment have been added to the murder charge against a former Kentucky lawmaker accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, officials said.

Former state Rep. Steve Nunn, 57, of Glasgow was indicted this week on six counts of wanton endangerment for allegedly firing a gun as police approached him Sept. 11 in a cemetery where his parents were buried, The (Louisville, Ky.) Courier-Journal reported Saturday.

Earlier that day, Nunn's ex-girlfriend, Amanda Ross, 29 was found fatally shot in Lexington. Lexington police charged Nunn with murder in the death of Ross, but he has yet to be indicted by a grand jury.

Ross had obtained a domestic violence order this year against Nunn, who is being held in the Fayette County Detention Center.

A state legislative bill prompted by Ross's death would require people accused of domestic violence to wear electronic tracking devices, The Courier-Journal reported.

Nunn is the son of former Kentucky Gov. Louie Nunn, who died in 2004.
