Va. man headed to prison for child porn

NORFOLK, Va., Nov. 7 (UPI) --

A 32-year-old Virginia man who had child pornography videos on his laptop as he left a cruise ship terminal was ordered to prison for 15 years.

The (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot reported Saturday U.S. District Judge Robert G. Doumar sentenced Timothy David Webb of Woodbridge on a child pornography conviction after Webb admitted downloading the videos.

Webb, who also pleaded guilty one count of receiving child pornography, received lifetime probation in addition to his prison term, and was ordered to undergo sex offender and substance abuse treatment.

The child pornography videos were found on Webb's computer after he was stopped by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials as he was traveling through a cruise ship terminal in Norfolk.

The May search took place after Webb disembarked Royal Caribbean's Grandeur of the Sea cruise ship, The Virginian-Pilot said.

The search of Webb's laptop was conducted under a new policy that allows international travelers' electronic devices to be searched by federal agents without a warrant.

The Department of Homeland Security policy is being challenged by the American Civil Liberties Union.
