Song collects first LPGA title

SHIMA-SHI, Japan, Nov. 8 (UPI) --

Song Bo-bae shot 4-under-par 68 Sunday in finishing off a 3-stroke her first LPGA tournament victory at the Mizuno Classic in Japan.

Song had five birdies and one bogey in the final round and ended up at 15-under 201 for the 54-hole tournament. That was three strokes better than runners-up Brittany Lang, Lorena Ochoa and Park Hee-young.

Ochoa, the No. 1 ranked women's golfer in the world, had a bogey-free 8-under 64 Sunday to pull near the top of the leader board.

Song had birdies at Nos. 3 and 7 for a front-nine score of 34 but took control with three birdies in the four-hole span of 10-13 to pull ahead. She bogeyed No. 14 but used pars the rest of the way to collect her first LPGA title.

Ochoa's round Sunday was 32-32 with four birdies on each side. She had only one bogey in the tournament but was outside the lead because she only managed five birdies before the final round.

She opened her round with birdies on three of the first four holes, added another at No. 7 and made a charge with four birdies over Nos. 12-16.
