Jesse Chatman - New York Jets - Suspended For Four Games

Jesse Chatman, Running back for the New York Jets, was suspended for the first four games of the regular season for violating the NFL's steroids and related substances policy. Chatman won't be paid for his time off the field.

Chatman's agent, Brett Tessler, said that Chatman had never tested positive for steroids or other performance enhancing drugs. Tressler further explained, "Near the end of last season, the league claimed he had a diuretic in his system that they said could also be used as a masking agent. After Jesse spent great time and money defending his innocence, the league made its final ruling and now he has no choice but to look ahead to Week 5."

Recent rumors that Chatman had been released from the Jets have proven untrue.

Jesse Chatman will be eligible to play football on September 29, 2008. The Jets have a 'bye' week following his return and are scheduled to play the Cincinnati Bengals on October 12, 2008.

This is Chatman's sixth season playing in the NFL. In the 2007 season he had 128 carries for 515 yards and 1 touchdown. He averaged 4 yards a play.

Prior to playing for the New York Jets, Jesse Chatman played for the San Diego Chargers, the New Orleans Saints and the Miami Dolphins.
