Mandy Patinkin And CBS Dispute Stories About His Leaving "Criminal Minds"

Mandy Patinkin claimed he left the popular CBS show "Criminal Minds" due to creative differences. Now, CBS has taken exception to that explanation and said he left for "personal reasons" but declined to explain that term clearly.
Nina Tassler, who is charge of programming for CBS said Patinkin left of his own volition, but declined to elaborate on the exact reasons.
When he approached us and said, 'I want to be released,' and we talked about it internally, we realized that this was the moment in time where we knew we had to address it, and we did and were able to accommodate him," she said to a gathering of TV critics in Beverly Hills.
It's not the first time that the actor has abruptly left a show. He did the same thing in 1995, when he exited "Chicago Hope."
Everyone involved with the show expressed genuine dismay and surprise at the actor's leaving.
