Todd Cruz - Former Oriole - Dies At Age 52
Sept. 5, 2008 - (TOTI) - Todd Cruz, a former infielder for the Baltimore Orioles, passed away on September 2, 2008 at the swimming pool of his Bullhead, Arizona apartment complex.
Todd Cruz played in the Major Baseball League for a total of 4 years. Prior to his career with the Orioles, Cruz played for the Philadelphia Phillies, the Kansas City Royals, the California Angels, the Chicago White Sox and the Seattle Mariners. He and the Orioles won the 1983 World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies in a 4-1 series.
Just a few weeks ago, Todd Cruz appeared at the 25th anniversary celebration of the Orioles' last world championship at Camden Field and said, "Being with these guys here is like being a little kid getting ready for Christmas. I love them all, and I'll be an Oriole for the rest of my life."
The coroners office is conducting tests to determine the cause of Cruz's untimely death at the age of 52.
