Hurricane Hannah Hammers Carolinas
Hurricane Hannah has hammered the Carolinas and is now speeding its' way up the Atlantic Coast.
50 mph winds and heavy rains were the gifts of Hannah to the states of Virginia and the Carolinas.
Hannah is moving fast and is expected to travel all the way up the Atlantic Coast, even so far as Canada's Maritime Provinces. Forecasters think that Hurricane Hannah will hit that part of the world by Sunday night.
It was 3:20am when Hurricane Hannah first came ashore at the North Carolina-South Carolina state line. When it did, it caused a surge of water 1 to 2 feet along the shore. Plus the storm is expected to deliver another possible 6 inches of rain before it's done.
All of this flooding and high winds have caused a great number of electrical outages in the Carolinas and in Virginia and emergency crews are working to restore power. 400 people in South Carolina are in temporary housing due to the storm and another 10,000 are reported to be without electric.
So far no deaths have been reported in either state.
