Hurricane Ike is heading to Havana after already causing the deaths of 4 people in Cuba. 1.2 million people on the island have already been forced to evacuate due to Ike.
When Hurricane Ike first made landfall in Cuba it was a Category 3 hurricane. Since then it's weakened to Category 1 strength. Hurricane experts expect that Ike will strengthen again before hitting Louisiana, Texas or northern Mexico this weekend.
Ike did a particularly devastating job on Camaguey. The force of the winds were so strong that telephone poles were ripped from the ground and tossed onto cars. The city which is a historical site saw many buildings destroyed due to Ike.
All over Cuba, people did their best to deal with the ferocious storm. They boarded up windows and battened down the hatches. Those that could be evacuated have been. Schools and government buildings have all been closed until the storm passes.
Ike is expected to hit Havana later today with winds of 80mph.
