Britney Spears may be a Brit, according to the venerable Daily Mail. Britney Spears, who epitomizes the term white trash, and her family may hail from London. Not only that, but her forebears were most likely not married, but instead were "shacking up" in the Tottenham enclave of the City.
Reporters who checked into the records at the London Metropolitan Archives came up with these shocking allegations.
Britney's grandmother Lillian Woolmore-Portell married US Navy sailor Barnett O'Field Bridges in London during the Second World War. Then the two headed off to the U.S. The rest is history.
Laurence Ward who is in charge of the archive said the Spears history may be innocent, after all.
"Her great-grandparents have certainly listed the same address in the records for their marriage," he said. "But as her great-grandfather is recorded as being an able seaman, he may have been away with the Navy a lot. They could have recorded the same address for convenience."
Either way, this is great news for people in the United States. Britain, please come and get your pop tart!
