Norma Giannini Sentenced

Justice took forty years, but the day of reckoning has arrived for former nun Norma Giannini. The abuse took place when she was a principal of a school in Milwaukee during the 1960s.

"I ask forgiveness from the bottom of my heart," she told the Judge.

The 79 year old former nun plead no contest in November, and received a one year jail sentence and 10 years of probation.

Her victims, who were both teens at the time, are now 55. They claim she should have had a harder sentence, but female rapists are treated differently than male rapists.

James St. Patrick, 55, of Belgium, Wis., asked Judge Donald to impose a longer prison sentence.

"When are we going to start dealing with female rapists and give them the same sentence as male rapists?" he asked.
