John Grimsley Dead At 45

John Grimsley, former Houston Oilers linebacker, has passed away at age 45. He was found in his Missouri City home with a single gunshot wound. It's believed that the gunshot was accidental and not a suicide.

Grimsley played for the Oilers from 1984-1990. He played for the Miami Dolphins in 1992 and 1993. He made the Probowl in 1988.

Friends and colleagues were stunned by this deadly accident. Warren Moon told Fox 26 Sports "Hearing news like this about a former teammate is unsettling. We had unsettling things happen to our team when we were playing, like Jeff Alm (who committed suicide in 1993)." "You know as you get older you have to deal with things like this, but not at his age. I just saw John last week at the Super Bowl. This is just very sad."

Grimsley loved the outdoors and operated an expedition company that sponsored fishing and hunting trips. He was born in Canton, Ohio and played at the University of Kentucky before his professional career. He leaves behind a wife and two children.
