Paris Hilton and Benji Madden are going their own separate ways. There won't be a lot of animosity for this breakup.

"Even though they are still in love, they felt it would be better to just be friends," a source told US Magazine.

It looked like things were going so well, what could have caused the problems?

"Benji was overprotective and controlling. He doesn't get along with any of her friends," the source said. "Friends thought Paris had changed since being with Benji and she wants to be herself again."

Since Paris Hilton has been dating Madden, she's been keeping a relatively low profile on the party circuit. That may change now that socialite is free to mingle again.
