Seattle puts Kearney on injured reserve

SEATTLE, Nov. 20 (UPI) --

Defensive end Patrick Kearney has been placed on the Seattle Seahawks' season-ending injured reserve list with an ongoing left shoulder injury.

The pass-rushing specialist was the Seahawks' sack leader through seven games with five before he was injured Oct. 26 while playing San Francisco.

The 31-year-old, two-time Pro Bowl choice finishes his 10th NFL season with 21 tackles (15 solo), three passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

"You can get angry about it, you can get sad about it, but it's not going to heal your shoulder any faster," Kerney told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer earlier this week. "You take it for what it's worth. Now my job is to get better and get stronger for next season."

In his career with Seattle and the Atlanta Falcons, Kearney has compiled 367 tackles (286 solo), 77 1/2 sacks and three interceptions.
