COL BKB: Florida 64, Southern Utah 50
GAINESVILLE, Fla., Nov. 20 (UPI) --
Allan Chaney led Florida to a quick second-half start Thursday and the No. 19 Gators cruised past Southern Utah 64-50.
Nick Calathes paced Florida with 18 points and seven rebounds, but the Gators were slow in putting the game away because of 15 misses in 16 tries from three-point range.
After Florida (3-0) escaped with a 33-25 advantage at halftime, Chaney scored four straight points during an 11-2 run to open the second period. Southern Utah (1-1) came no closer than 10 points the rest of the way.
The Thunderbirds were led by Davis Baker with 23.
The schools were meeting for the first time.
