Scientology Protests

Protests against the Church of Scientology in Melbourne, Australia attracted 250 participants. The protesters are part of a group known as "Anonymous" who have targeted the controversial religion.

The protests were organized via online efforts.

By 2pm, a large contingent of most white males aged between 22 and 30 gathered outside the steps waving placards and signs garnishing favour from passing motorists. Even a Yarra Tram driver showed his support by repeatedly ringing his tram's bell By this time the police force was circling the area in their cars and monitoring the situation. Flyers and pamphlets were being distributed and many of the participants were wearing masks or bandanas to conceal their identity.

This was the first of several protests organized by "Anonymous" for today worldwide.
