It was a day filled with joy until it was overshadowed with tragedy. Kim Sjostrom, 36 of Davie, Florida was having her first dance as the bride of Teddy Efkarpides when she collapsed in his arms and died.

Kim and Teddy were dancing to a Greek song that means "Love Me." when she complained of being lightheaded. Kim was diabetic so Teddy thought she needed sugar. Wedding guests, paramedics and doctors at a nearby hospital were unable to revive her. She died of heart disease.

Sjostrom was a poster child - literally- for childhood diabetes, she appeared on posters in the New York subways. She had a history of cardiac episodes.

Kim Sjostrom and Teddy Efkarpides had been dating three years to the day of their wedding (and her untimely passing) on January 19, 2008.
