Heroin overdoses sweep Russian town

LYSVA, Russia, Nov. 26 (UPI) --

Police in the Russian town of Lysva have launched a hunt for the drug dealers who supplied the heroin that caused about 50 people to overdose.

One user died as a result of the mass-overdose in the community in Perm Territory, Itar-Tass reported Wednesday.

Investigators couldn't confirm reports Wednesday that the heroin was a synthetic variety known as White Chinaman that was purer than the usual street versions of the drug.

The news agency said federal narcotics agents had arrested one low-level dealer in their investigation and had more leads to follow.
