Drew Brees tops NFC weekly honorees

After a near-perfect passer rating, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was named the NFC offensive player of the week.

Brees recorded a 157.5 passer rating in the Saints' 51-29 win on Monday night over the Green Bay Packers.

He completed 20-of-26 passes for 323 yards with four touchdowns and the passer rating was the highest of his eight-year NFL career.

Other NFC weekly honorees were Tampa Bay cornerback Ronde Barber (defense) and Atlanta kick returner Harry Douglas (special teams).

Barber, in his 12th year out of Virginia, had three tackles and two interceptions, including a 65-yard interception-return for a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 38-20 win at Detroit.

With his 61-yard punt-return touchdown in the fourth quarter, Douglas became the 10th player in Falcons' history to return a punt for a score.

The rookie from Louisville also had a seven-yard rushing touchdown, and 92 receiving yards in Atlanta's 45-28 win over the Carolina Panthers.
