Phoenix police rescue kidnapped teen
PHOENIX, Nov. 26 (UPI) --
Phoenix police say they rescued a teenager who had reportedly been kidnapped and held for ransom for nearly a week.
SWAT officers stormed a house in the west Valley area of the city overnight and freed the 16-year-old boy who said he had been tied up, beaten and kept in a closet by his captors.
The Arizona Republic said Wednesday that the details surrounding the alleged abduction were sketchy and that detectives were questioning six suspects.
The newspaper said police got involved in the case after the suspects began shaking the teen's family down for more than $100,000.
