Cavs hand Oklahoma City 13th straight loss

CLEVELAND, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- LeBron James scored 10 points in the first quarter Wednesday and Cleveland poured it on early in thrashing Oklahoma City 117-82.

The Thunder, winners of just one game all season, lost their 13th straight.

Cleveland scored 33 points in each of the first two periods and Oklahoma City could not get to 33 for the entire half. The Cavaliers wound up with a 66-32 advantage at the break.

James, who began the game as the NBA's leading scorer with 28.9 points per outing, finished with 14 and sat out most of the final two quarters.

The Cavaliers won their third straight and their 11th out of 12. They are unbeaten in eight home games this season.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas led Cleveland in scoring with 17 and Daniel Gibson had 15.

Oklahoma City, which got 14 from Chris Wilcox, is still looking for its first win under Coach Scott Brooks. He took over last week after P.J. Carlesimo was fired 13 games into the season.

Lions continue Thanksgiving tradition

DETROIT, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- The Detroit Lions, who first played football on Thanksgiving Day in 1934, will do so again Thursday in hopes of winning for the first time this season.

Detroit has lost 12 consecutive games dating back to the final week of the 2007 season and the Lions have dropped 18 out of 19 in a skid that began prior to Thanksgiving last year.

The Lions will host the Tennessee Titans in the first of the three holiday NFL matchups. Tennessee is coming off its first setback of the year.

Thursday's games continue a pro football tradition that began in 1920, when six contests took place on Thanksgiving.

Detroit, which has hosted a Thanksgiving Day game every year since 1945, has lost four straight on the holiday.

The Dallas Cowboys, who made their initial Thanksgiving appearance in 1966, will host the Seattle Seahawks. The NFL added a third holiday game in 2006 and this year's extra attraction will be Arizona at Philadelphia.

Justin Mason scored 18 with five rebounds and five assists, and Gary Johnson added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Longhorns (4-1), who beat Saint Joseph's to start the tournament before falling to eighth-ranked Notre Dame 81-80 in the semifinals Tuesday.

Oregon was led by Joevan Catron's 13 points and eight rebounds.

Tajuan Porter scored 11 with six rebounds, while Garrett Sim added 11 points and four assists for the Ducks (3-3).

Report: Mauresmo will play in 2009

PARIS, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Former world No. 1 Amelie Mauresmo thinks she has at least one more season left in her tennis career, she told L'Europe sports daily Wednesday.

In an interview with the French sports publication, the 29-year-old Mauresmo admitted she considered retirement last summer after splitting from long-time coach Loic Courteau, but finally has decided to attempt to regain full fitness and battle her way back to the top.

"I was not that far from packing it all in because I was so far away from getting back to the level that I wanted to play at," she said. "I want to prove to myself that I am strong enough to get back to my best form. I want to prove to myself that I am strong enough to get back to my best form."

In the 2008 season, her record was 32-19 with no titles.

She last won a tournament at the 2007 Proximus Diamond Games in Anterp, Belgium.
